We most often perform the following procedures.

#Extraction

Extraction, or tooth extraction, is performed under local anesthesia. We try to make this unpopular procedure as comfortable as possible. You may feel pressure during the procedure, but there should be no sharp pain. As soon as you feel sharp pain, we will add anesthesia. After the tooth is extracted, collagen is inserted into the wound. This is absorbed into the wound and reduces the risk of complications in terms of inflammation and bleeding. We then stabilize the wound with an absorbable suture. This will fall out on its own within a few weeks. If there are no complications, you do not need to come for a check-up.

#Complicated extraction

In the case of severely damaged or poorly positioned teeth, their extraction is more complicated. It is often necessary to divide the tooth into individual fragments, which can then be removed.

Due to the technical complexity, it is necessary to expect a longer treatment time. Local anesthesia works reliably even in complex cases.

#Wisdom teeth extraction

The complexity of wisdom tooth extraction is highly variable and depends on their location and anatomy.

When teeth erupt physiologically into the oral cavity, extraction is performed in the same way as for other teeth. Again, it can be simple or complicated.

#Surgical extraction of wisdom teeth

If the wisdom tooth has not completely erupted into the oral cavity, a surgical approach is necessary. The mucosa above the tooth is cut, if necessary, the bone tissue around the tooth is partially removed, the tooth is divided into individual fragments and carefully removed.

#Autotransplantation

Tooth autotransplantation is the replacement of a tooth that has an unsolvable problem with your own tooth. In principle, any tooth can be replaced. The limitation, however, lies in the anatomical similarity of the teeth being replaced. Simply put, a larger tooth cannot be moved to a smaller place. A decision on the suitability of treatment is possible after a careful examination. The treatment is performed while the patient is conscious with local anesthesia. In one visit, we first extract the untreatable tooth. Then we extract a healthy tooth, most often a wisdom tooth, and move it to the place of the untreatable tooth. We secure the tooth with a suture or splint.

Autotransplantation of a tooth with an incompletely developed root

In the case of autotransplantation in young patients, a tooth whose root development has not yet been completed can be autotransplanted. In such a tooth, there is a chance that the root development will be completed in a new position, it will remain alive and the tooth will continue to function fully. If necessary, the position of the tooth is adjusted using orthodontic appliances (braces) and its shape is corrected with a ceramic crown.

Tooth autotransplantation can also be performed in older patients whose teeth are fully developed. In such a case, root canal treatment must be performed within 14 days. If successful, the tooth will be fitted with a crown in 4-6 months, which will fully integrate it into the dental arch. The treatment allows the use of one's own tooth, which does not play a significant role in the dental arch, as a biological implant. According to the available literature, the success rate of the treatment is approximately 90%.

#Easy implantation

A dental implant can be thought of as a screw. After applying local anesthesia, the bone is exposed through an incision in the mucosa. A hole is drilled into the bone with cooling with saline solution, into which the implant is screwed. The wound is then carefully sutured. For the implant to heal properly, it is necessary for the implant to be completely seated in the bone. If there is sufficient bone supply, we are talking about simple implantation.

#Complicated implantation

In most patients, the bone supply for implant placement is not satisfactory. In order to be able to place the implant in this case, it is necessary to supplement the missing bone. In the case of smaller defects, it is possible to apply the implant and supplement the bone at the same time in one treatment. In the case of larger defects, it is first necessary to supplement the bone, then wait a few months for it to heal and then implant in the next visit.

#Sinus lift

In the area of the upper molars and molars, there is a maxillary sinus above the roots of the teeth. This cavity is part of the paranasal sinuses. When replacing teeth in this location, there is often insufficient bone height. In order to be able to replace teeth in this area, we need to use the so-called sinus lift operation. The operation consists of lifting the mucous lining of the maxillary sinus. It is possible to add bone to the resulting “pocket” and insert an implant. Depending on the complexity of the situation, it is possible to add bone and insert an implant in one visit, or it is necessary to add bone first, wait a few months for healing and then implant.

How long will my implant last?

According to American statistics, the average survival of a dental implant is 8 years. The durability of an implant depends primarily on the care of the patient. The implant is more susceptible to inflammation than the tooth itself. If home plaque control is neglected, the implant may even be lost. An implant patient should visit their dentist once every 6 months for a preventive examination. A minimum interval of 6 months is also recommended for dental hygiene visits.

With individual implants, the crown that is screwed to the implant can sometimes become loose. In such a case, it is advisable to contact your implantologist who will tighten the crown.

In case of any problems with the implant, it is advisable to make an appointment for a check-up so that the problem can be resolved at the earliest possible stage.

Prosthetic treatment using dental implants

Dental implants can replace individual teeth, groups of teeth or entire dental arches. There are two basic groups of prosthetic products fixed on implants:

These works are firmly connected to the implant. Crowns are most often made of zirconium ceramics. Nowadays, we try to make the connection using screws and not cement. Such treatment is repairable (the crown or bridge can be removed without damaging the implant) and more biocompatible (the transitions of individual structures can be perfectly polished outside the mouth).

The number of implants that need to be inserted depends on the individual situation.

2. so-called hybrid replacements

These are dentures made of metal, resin and resin teeth, and can be removed from implants. They are fixed to the implants using brackets or spherical structures. Their surface area is comparable to removable dentures. This is a more economically acceptable solution for patients who do not like removable dentures and would like to improve their comfort.

To create a hybrid prosthesis in the upper jaw, it is necessary to insert 4-6 implants.

To create a hybrid prosthesis in the lower jaw, it is necessary to insert 2-4 implants.

#Surgical treatment of receding gums

Nowadays, there is an increasing number of patients who have a problem with receding gums, the so-called gingival recess. It most often occurs due to incorrect brushing technique and the use of a hard toothbrush. It is also often caused by an uncorrected orthodontic bite defect. The patient is usually bothered by the sensitivity of the exposed neck or an aesthetic defect. The situation can be solved, among other things, surgically. The gum and mucosa above the recess are released, a piece of tissue is removed from the palatal mucosa and moved to the site of the recess, and the tissue above the recess is moved over the defect. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and, according to available scientific literature, has a success rate of 90%.

#Dental injuries

Dental injuries are a relatively common situation in the dentist's office. They affect patients of all ages. Treatment depends on the specific situation. In any case, it is necessary to try to calm the injured person. In the event of bleeding, cover the bleeding tissue with a sterile bandage and keep the head tilted forward to avoid inhaling blood. Carefully search the site of the injury in order to find whole teeth or their fragments. Store the teeth or fragments in a sealable container in a specific liquid (Dentosafe or SOS Dentobo), in which they can be transported for up to 24 hours, or, for example, in milk, in which the teeth can be placed for approximately 2 hours. In the event of a change in the position of the teeth, do not straighten the teeth and immediately visit your dentist or the dental emergency room.

Trauma to a temporary tooth

In the event of an accident in children, when a temporary tooth is damaged or completely lost, it is necessary to visit a dentist's office or a dental emergency room. The principle of treatment is primarily to protect the germ of the permanent tooth. A smaller defect can be repaired with the patient's cooperation using photocomposite resin. Larger defects and lack of cooperation are solved by extracting the tooth.

Injuries to permanent teeth

In the event of an injury to a permanent tooth, it is necessary to take into account the specific extent of the damage and the patient's age. Smaller crown defects without exposing the dental pulp can be repaired with photocomposite resin. When the dental pulp is penetrated, root canal treatment is often necessary. Larger crown defects must be treated with a ceramic crown. If the root is damaged, most often its fracture, the situation is no longer resolvable and the tooth must be removed. If the tooth is completely loosened from the tooth socket or if it is mobile, it is necessary to stabilize the tooth with splints for a certain period of time to the surrounding teeth. Teeth after injuries are regularly monitored (vitality of the dental pulp, tooth color, mobility) and further treatment is required in case of complications.
